dunes and dragoons

road vogue

join us as we trot the globe with the jet setters of beacon's closet in our new travel series road vogue. our first destination will get you spiritualized as travel guide chelsea takes us through the sands of the west. climb some dunes, stare at the moon and fall into some high desert drama.

my companions and I arrived to our campsite a couple hours after the sun set. this is the view from our morning hike.

name: chelsea

phoenix, l.a., and the dragoons in the coronado national forest.

purpose of journey: this trip had two main purposes: to guide my friends on a spiritual adventure in the desert and to attend my friend jane chardiet's first solo photo show at mata noise in l.a.

never travel without
: a kimono - you never know when you’ll need to lounge in style or have a dramatic moment.

favorite outfit you packed:
a black vintage tunic dress that i wore nearly every day.

how many pairs of shoes:

what are you listening to: broken english club, strawberry switchblade, neil young and the radio.

favorite meal:
i had a handful of special home-cooked meals in friends’ gardens, but I also got two tacos for $2.50 in silverlake and their salsa bar included sauteed onions. i felt very blessed with food on this trip.

highlight of the trip:
as we were driving out of our camping spot, we pulled over to play with some grazing horses, a giant donkey and a miniature donkey. they encircled the car and wouldn’t let us leave! and i didn’t want to.

dream destination:
mexico city.

all of the plant life was in bloom from above average rainfall during monsoon season.
