mad hatter, H E I D I L E E

stuff we like

we introduce you to H E I D I L E E, hat designer extraordinaire and also this month’s model on our homepage! what makes her more than your haberdasher-from-next-door is her total originality, how she whimsically marries the old and the new to make something totally offbeat and unexpected, like a parasol hat or lush garden headpiece. inspiration comes from places like sci-fi movies, salvador dali, and the vintage racks. ”there’s much to draw upon from sampling the old and splicing it with the new,” she wrote us. “eye-shopping vintage is like a five-course meal for me.”

heidi’s hats are total treasures-but don’t just take our word for it. her creations have graced glossies like vogue, elle, and w magazine, and she is a recipient of the 2012 metropolitan museum of art costume institute accessory design award. keep an eye out for her at the 3D print design fashion show at javits center and at columbia university’s KSA 35th annual culture show: a tiger’s tale, in april 2015.
