how would you describe your style right now?
a mix of casual, tomboy, and street. i’m usually wearing something loose and comfy with a pair of sneakers. and lately i’ve been gravitating towards bold prints and colors.
what's your strategy when shopping at beacon's?
go in knowing what you’re looking for so that you have a focus. it also makes for a great starting point. i find that when i have a focus, really awesome pieces end up standing out screaming at me and i usually surprise myself with great finds.
we can’t get over how cute your blog is - you and your daughters complimenting outfits are so good! what inspired you to start attached to the hip?
i was looking for some urban mama and mini style inspiration on instagram and wasn’t having much luck identifying with what was out there. i ended up shooting a commercial with a style blogger who talked to me about her amazing experience and she basically inspired me to just do it. i didn’t plan it. i basically went home, opened up an account, and started posting pics. it’s been a fun and creative outlet and a great way to remind myself that becoming a mom doesn’t mean i have to let go of whatever “cool” is left in me. and the biggest bonus—it’s been a fantastic way to celebrate my meaning of motherhood.
you’ve been on house of cards, homeland and orange is the new black! so impressed with all that you do, mom, actress and blogger how do you do it?! can you tell us about what you’re working on right now?
i don’t sleep. reason why i’m usually wearing a pair of sunglasses and/or a hat. right now, i’m doing a play on broadway called children of a lesser god. it’s a beautiful story about a deaf woman and a hearing man who fall in love and ultimately realize their need to help each other become better versions of themselves. i’m so proud of this production because it features deaf talent, an ethnically diverse cast, and it has a powerful message that is right for our time. if you want to learn more, you can visit childrenofalessergodbroadway.com
