Bag It Selling Policies:

  • A 4% service fee (calculated from the retail total) is automatically deducted from the payment options. This fee allows us to sustainably continue to offer our sell-through-mail service. (The service fee is reduced to 2% for submissions with a retail total of $2,000+). 
  • Our pricing is based upon factors such as brand, retail price, style/trend/demand, condition, season, etc.
  • We reserve the right to adjust the initial price estimates upon viewing the items in person or deny an item upon arrival.
  • All items must arrive laundered and in sale-ready condition. Beacon's Closet does not launder any inventory. Unlaundered items or items with odor may be unaccepted upon arrival at our office. (Unaccepted items may be shipped back with the shipping costs deducted from the final payment amount or alternatively donated to charity).
  • Please disclose all conditional issues of garments. This includes discoloring, stains, snags, tears, moth holes, dry rot, pilling, missing buttons, odor, excessive pet hair, fiber shrinkage for knitwear, etc. Items with undisclosed conditional issues may be unaccepted upon arrival at our office. (Unaccepted items may be shipped back with the shipping costs deducted from the final payment amount or alternatively donated to charity).
  • Please note that all designer/luxury items are subject to price adjustments or denial upon inspection. We do our best to appraise these items via the images provided, but the retail prices given are retail estimates until the items arrive at our office. If we are unable to authenticate or need to change the price on any of your items we will inform you. If we cannot accept an item for these reasons we can ship the item back to you and subtract the shipping costs from your amounts
  • You have 2 weeks to accept our price estimates and request a prepaid mailer for the items before our price estimates and the submission are canceled.
  • Only pre-approved items listed on the acceptance list with corresponding price estimates may be included in your mailers and shipped to us. Please note, we do not accept donations through our sell-by-mail program; however, donations are welcome at our brick-and-mortar locations. If unapproved items are included in your shipment, a fee will be deducted from your final payment: $10 for up to 5 unapproved items, and $15 for more than 5 items.
  • We do not accept donation items through our sell-by-mail program; however, donations are welcome at our brick-and-mortar store locations.
  • Bag It operates separately from the brick-and-mortar stores. Estimated retail prices given through Bag It do not transfer to the brick-and-mortar locations. 
  •  Drop offs can only be made at our Greenpoint location. Only pre-approved items may be dropped off, and all items must be sealed in the provided mailer with the drop off label attached in order to be accepted for Bag It in-store drop off.
  • Once the items are received, we will process the cash payment via Paypal or issue the store credit value in an account for you.
  • We do not have the resources to hold unaccepted items that are not available for sale for more than 73 hours. After the 73 hour holding period the items must be returned to the seller at the seller's expense, or donated. 
  • If no payment information is provided or response is given after a 73-hour period a cash payment via Paypal will be issued to the correspondent's email address used in the submission communication. Unaccepted items will automatically be donated to charity. You can find more information on the charities we work with here. Alternatively, if a Paypal payment is unable to be made to the correspondent's email address, the payment will be issued in the form of store credit for Beacon's Closet online store.
  • Once items are entered into Beacon's Closet inventory available for sale and payment has been issued, items can not be returned to the seller.
  • There is a 5-accepted item minimum requirement to qualify for the prepaid mailers. If a submission does not meet at least 5 accepted items, then the seller will need to submit additional items in order to move forward with Bag It submission process.
  • One submission per seller is allowed at a time. Once the open submission has been closed, and the seller has been paid, then a new group of items can be submitted for assessment of an additional submission.
  • Due to shipment and processing efficiency and procedures, additional items can not be submitted towards an open submission once the prepaid mailer has been dispatched for the submission.
  • You have 3 weeks from the USPS delivery date to send accepted items to us using the provided label and mailers, or 2 weeks to drop them off at our Greenpoint store through our "in-store drop-off" program. If items are not received within the designated submission window, your submission will be canceled, including acceptance lists, price estimate quotes, and any associated shipping labels will be voided
  • In the unfortunate event that a mailer is lost or items are damaged while in transit to our office, reimbursement is only applicable when the items have been double packed in our provided poly-mailers, a valid shipping label is attached (provided by Beacon's), UPS pickup confirmation and tracking information is provided, and the mailer was shipped within the designated submission window.
