beacon's closet staff playlist - shay

this month, we’re sharing a store playlist from shay, a buyer at our manhattan location. imagine a dystopian cityscape, neon lights flickering against shadowy alleys where this soundtrack fuels your determination. a sonic caffeine jolt, perfect for staying energized in a surrealist dystopia.

what’s the vibe you like to bring to the store with this playlist?

something that feels like playing baseball with the cullen vampires at dusk but also fighting crime and corruption in gotham with batman till dawn. it’s perfect background music for conquering inner demons, crusading for justice, and getting stuff done asap, no rocky!

what inspired this playlist?

a handful of my favorite dark, brooding, surrealist, and/or dystopian movies (specifically la planète sauvage, enter the void, tart, kids, the doom generation, basketball diaries, ghost world, girl, interrupted, sucker punch, fight club, scott pilgrim vs. the world, akira, sin city, battle royale, and kill bill).

when’s your favorite time during the workday to throw this playlist on?

whenever we’re super duper busy! this playlist serves as a kind of sonic caffeine, definitely keeps everyone awake and on their toes.

what’s your go to song that’s on repeat this month?

“i am worm food” by perry maysun *immediately* followed by “what you wish for” by lexa gates!
