Beacon's Word On The Street with Eliza

We’re getting the scoop straight from the sidewalk! Odera caught up with Eliza outside our Greenpoint store. A photographer with a deep love for styling her own shoots, Eliza’s look blends utility with pure personality—think glow-in-the-dark belt charms, eBay scores, and thongs as signature pieces. From well-worn Rick Converse to tiny tops and trippy film references, their style is lived-in, layered, and unapologetically theirs. Stay tuned for more unfiltered style inspiration from Beacon’s Closet thrifters!

O:  Hey guys. Welcome to Beacon's Word on the street. I'm Odera and I'm here with Eliza.

E: I'm a photographer. Use my clothes, my own personal clothes to style my, my models like all the time. Mm-hmm. Will be on sets and like if you look through my photos, like half of them are wearing these rings or like some of these bracelets.

Mm-hmm. I like little tiny shirts. I love a little thong moment. Mm-hmm. These are kind of my signature. I love my glasses and just the hat that is actually because I have a brain injury and I am. Super sensitive to light. I lose everything I own, so I put them on a chain, which I guess I look like your grandma, but like make it a little cooler.

Yeah. About the accessories. Mm-hmm. I love some little like belt charms. This is my glow in the dark. Scorpion we go. This is the best part. Yeah, this was a birthday present. I wear this literally every single day. So pick this up from like some thrift boys on the street. At Hardy Belt that I thrifted, I think I got this off of eBay like many years ago, and some Capris that I got in France.

That's like honestly my favorite place to thrift. That's where I'm from, Rick Converse collab. I've taken to them to the cobbler, like three separate times to get re-upped and they look crazy, but I'm not about keeping things clean. I, there's no point in just like. Not living in the clothes that you get.

O: If your life was a movie, what genre would it be?

E: It would just be like, those like really trippy movies from the seventies back before they had to like secure, like big corporate funding. And um, I recently watched Zardoz, which is a hell of a trip if you haven't seen that. Watch it. Just a bunch of people and things that were obviously written by people on acid, crazy colors. Just like people in like super weird positions. Stuff that like would not be allowed in theaters today generally.

O: And what would you say to someone who's looking to create a personal style?

E: You really don't have to wear what everybody else is wearing.

It's really just like, what are you drawn towards? What kind of silhouettes are you excited about? I really like silhouettes, I think I really shop based on silhouette for sure. Major.
