highlight of the trip: horseback riding!

lake atitlan - the hotel we were staying has no vehicle access. boat transport, and walking are the only way to reach to the property.

bienvenido a santa cruz!

after my first tuk tuk ride in the winding streets of santa cruz

visited maya ruins in tecpan

the parrots of hotel “santo tomás” in chichicastenango. they freely roam the courtyard of the hotel, but here i caught them eating their lunch (bananas, melons, and strawberries)

colorful tombs of the the cementerio general of chichicastenango. according to indigenous maya tradition, honoring the dead encourages the living to make peace with the inevitability of death.
