the high end of low - styled by lara
artist and manhattan buyer, lara, embraces the early 2000’s in her art, life, and style.
how did you first get interested in clothes?
i first got into clothing being from a family that exclusively shopped resale. because my clothing was less expensive, i always had a lot of options. thrifting pieces and putting together outfits has been a constant throughout my life.
what inspires your style?
pure nostalgia! specifically celebrity style of the early 2000s. i just love how much fun they had with clothing at the time, there was little poise and no stylists.
outside of buying what are you up to these days?
i’m updating my instagram of 2000s celebrity & early internet digital art @laraberlyne on a daily basis, reading tarot cards, and playing dress up online on imvu avatar chat.
what meaning do clothes have for you?
i’m very sentimentally attached to my clothing! each piece i have is empowering in its own way, when i open my closet it feels like my possibilities for self-expression are limitless.
