o: my name's odera, this is beacon's word on the street, here with...
l: ladarius.
o: and what do you do?
l: i'm a manager at a jazz club.
o: you get to dress this fly on the job?
l: i do, actually.
o: take us through your outfit right now.
l: the jacket i just thrifted from in texas. this is protagonist (holds up under layered jacket). iro jeans (points at hoodie). free people (points at jeans) because they have the best jeans for tall people.
o: the shoes are great. oh, nice. oh, they're cute. have any style resolutions?
l: really diving into my gender expression, and that has really been playing a roll in like what i decide to wear. grace jones, a lot of prince, a lot of michael jackson.
o: could you describe your personal style?
l: i'd say genderless. i really like to play with asymmetrical things. i'm also kind of like, a minimalist at the same time, but also a little detail, like this is a hoodie, but like, it's not like just a hoodie, it's got like a cutout sleeve. i just like to find a little elevation, like a simple thing. that's what i'm seeing. everything is like, yeah, it's streamlined, but it's very elevated.
o: and also you understand like your proportions really well. minimalism is like, coming back. i have clean lines, but like still a maximal silhouette.
l: and that's what i really like about grace jones, because like she's so simple, but like also very broad shoulders, like the hood.
o: anything that you're looking for in particular right now?
l: i'm always looking for jeans. i'm 6'4" and it's so hard to find pants that go all the way to the ground. like always on my list.
o: and any plans for fashion week?
l: going to be supporting my girl @iluvcharliebyrd. she'll be walking in a few shows and I'll be there to support her.
o: and any advice for people trying to find their own personal style?
l: people don't have hobbies anymore. it's a lot about like molding yourself to an aesthetic. so I feel like more recently i've been like listening to a lot of more music. i've been expanding like my taste in art and like what i like. and that has really been like inspiring me to try new things. look within yourself.
o: it's so real. thank you so much for being here. it's so lovely to meet you.
l: lovely to meet you too. thanks for having me.
