Word On The Street Interview with SWAVAY

Word On The Street is that SWAVAY is going on tour with James Blake! SWAVAY pulled up to Beacons Closet all the way from ATL to talk about tour essentials, songwriting process and he even taught me an Atlanta slang that I'm going to start saying from now on. Read the full interview below and watch the video and don't forget to buy tickets and pull up TRIM to see SWAVAY in a city near you!

André: What would you rate this fit?

SWAVAY: Uh- Honestly, it's not the hardest fit. I told you I was picky. I'm a sucker for skate brands, like Hardies is. I love Na-Kel, like he's one of my good friends, and TyShawn. Their brand is so hard, no pun intended. And I like anything that has something to do with like a women's school or something like a women's team.

André: So you're about to go on tour right now. What is the ultimate SWAVAY travel pack?

SWAVAY:  Like- Palo Santo, Red Bull no sugar, and some cash. 'Cause I be going to cities and going to like vintage shops, know what I mean? So like- Cash is king.

André: When you write songs, do you take your time? Does it take hours or does it take SIXX MINUTES?

SWAVAY:  Depends, like sometimes songs find me fast, as opposed to other times where like, like weeks, months on a song. Yeah. It varies, but really enjoy the songs that I've made in like- Yeah ... six minutes.

André: The storytelling in that song is pretty crazy, man. It's like I'm at the edge of my seat.

André: Favorite city to play in?

SWAVAY: Like St. Pete or like Tampa. Like the environment is cool and every venue are all really great, you know?

André:  Can you teach me any Atlanta slangs?

SWAVAY: So you don't know like the basic ones, like "Trim" ?

 André:  Trim? What is that?

SWAVAY:  Trim, trim can mean a lot of things. Like you pulled up trim, like trim is like you got a good fit on. Like or, or you can be trim like , you tripping. Like you know what I'm saying?. Your fit trim, bro. Like pulling up trim, you know?

André:  The new EP, The Prelude, you have a song called KASKET. Let's say like one day you die, Egyptian God style, what is going in your casket?

SWAVAY:  Just bury me in like a nice, full Bottega suit. Everything else can go. Like I don't wanna be buried with nothing, except for a full, expensive suit and-

André: Gotta look fly in heaven.

SWAVAY:  Exactly. You know what I mean? I'm pulling up trim.

André: Which city you think has the best fashion?

SWAVAY:  Asked me a question that he already knew the answer to. It's here really.Y'all get full done up.

André:  The best piece of advice you ever received or would want to give to somebody?

SWAVAY:  I'm like, "Bro, just go broke for that s***. So like at least two or three times where I went into overdraft just to support my passion. You know what I mean?

 André:  Investing in yourself.

SWAVAY:  Appreciate y'all for giving a f*** about me. The Prelude out now. I work at Beacons Closet now..so- But thank you for allowing me to be on here, brother.
