c: what's up, guys? i'm corey. i'm here with the owner and founder of limbo today. i'll be asking him a few questions. let's get into it. how did you start your clothing brand, limbo?

j: um, i started it during the pandemic. i've been making clothes probably since, i would say, like, 2017-2018. but i came up with the name and really started the brand around 2020. pandemic was a perfect time for a lot of people to get their stuff together, you know, do what they have to do, and that was really the time I really started putting, like, all my effort into my brand.

c: describe your style within limbo, and what's your inspiration behind the brand?

j: well, definitely underground. new york style was the main thing for the brand. as inspired by my life being into sports, military, anything that have to do with subcultures, because that was a big part of new york. everything was defi divided healthily.

not like segregation or anything like that, but everything was divided. definitely being a so soho kid growing up and being out here. seeing all the different trends, all the different brands, growing up, all the things i was into. i incorporate all that into my brand and everything i want it to look like, how i want it to look my entire life.

c: got you. that's what's up. yeah, i could definitely see a lot of you and your brand. um, so my next question is going to be, what's some new projects you have for this upcoming year?

j: oh, definitely for the spring, i'm focusing more on ladies. so you're definitely going to see more skirts, more like men's wear blouses, but for the women, like oversized, play blouses.

i'm working on a few collabs with other, um, creators and other brands. so i'm doing a lot this year. i have a lot in store. i hope everybody's prepared for it.

c: okay. so for that, if you could, if you could design with any woman, um, fashion brand, like who would you? like anyone.

j: oh, martine rose off the bag. that's like regardless of gender. that's probably my favorite designer right now. what she's doing with her brand and everything. she's inspired by her story. i would definitely want to work with martine rose that's her stuff right here.

c: so look out for limbo and martine rose. next question is gonna be a lot of your work is refurbished, where would you say is the best place to shop for your pieces?

j: of course, um, you want to go online. that's gonna be the best spot. i am going to be in a few stores soon, but definitely online. i do a lot of pop ups as well throughout the whole year. so just say, stay on my page, instagram @limbo.nyc. you'll see a whole bunch of pop up information, everything that's coming, everything there for you, all the information you would like.

c: big things coming for limbo this year, y'all, y'all heard it here first. all right, so that's a wrap for our first interview with limbo. check the link in the bio and stay tuned for more!
