Closet Post Cards - Anime NYC 2025

The Beacon's crew takes a day off for an adventure in one of the most exciting events in NYC as an anime fan. Anime NYC 2025 was fun, chaotic, action packed and full of amazing outfits and cosplays! But do you ever wonder where these outfits came from? We talked to Beacon Babes Erica, Tru and André about their experience and how they put together their outfits for this year.

What was the process like finding or creating your outfit for Anime NYC 2025?

André: A little stressful because I was in the middle of moving apartments so it's difficult to find where my clothes are at. I bought the red vest at Beacon's literally the night before the event and it was perfect for my Luffy cosplay. For day 2, I just put on a black Dior suit because it was the only thing I could access in my insanely messy new apartment.

Erica: For some reason really stressful
I knew I wanted to thrift all my pieces - it was honestly a waiting game for me to see when a particular item would arrive AND in my size.

Tru: I was worried Iwasn’t going to find anything. But for the first day I was able to get a complete Luffy from One Piece cosplay at beacons! It came just in time for the convention. for day two i had ordered my costume from a website that I've used before in the past.

How many other outfit ideas did you pass on before deciding that THIS IS THE ONE?

André: I had four outfit ideas. I passed on a all brown pirate like outfit, this character named Usopp. For day 2 I was supposed to wear a blue suit and be this character named Detective Conan but I couldn't access my full wardrobe due to moving so I went with an all black suit instead.

Erica: Bee was my main priority. I had to let go of Puppycat because none of the pieces I needed came into the store

Tru: I had two other outfit ideas, but I would have to order them online since they were characters you wouldn't be able to find at a store. Fortunately I was able to find mine at beacons.

What was the highlight of Anime NYC 2025 for you?

André: Seeing the coolest cosplay outfits, purchasing cool art and punching this punch game machine and scored 808 points out of 1,000!

Erica: I got to meet new people. Chat with old friends. I won Mookie’s raffle. It was glorious! Don’t ask me how I got home.

Tru: My highlight was getting to be around other nerdy individuals and seeing people cosplay some of my favorite characters!
