taylor & demolish

this past month we were approached by the very stylish, very adorable candy, of taylor & demolish for a collaboration project. candy scoured our williamsburg racks for her do-it-yourself project, and we are so impressed with what she came up with!

the pieces turned out great, and are for sale on our site!

candy was inspired by brooklyn's street art and her love of bright colors (even in the cold weather!)

...and here's the best part: we are giving away the floral dress! be the tenth person to re-tweet about the contest and win!

the dress is vintage, size 6, and 100% pure silk.

good luck!

the new new york

last saturday, october 1st, beacon's closet took part in GreenHomeNYC's block party in front of our store in williamsburg.

one core component of the event was to use the streetscape and surroundings as a "classroom," transforming the block into an example of a greener city.

all proceeds made at our pop-up shop were donated to city growers, a one-acre rooftop farm here in new york city.

we learned how to paint a green roof, watched worms wiggle and transform organic matter into dirt, and hung out in the student-designed sustainable furniture lounge.

thanks GreenHomeNYC! we'll see you next year!

the beautiful amy merrick

amy merrick is a flower designer, stylist, and blogger of famed an apple a day. she is also an expert on all things beautiful, so when amy came for a browse at our williamsburg location we couldn't wait to see what she'd dig up.

amy found some gems, and here's what she had to say about them:

"This crepe de chine 1940s dress reminds me of what a ballet dancer would wear on a date. The rhinestone peplum is adorable and the color is the prettiest pale peachy nude."

"If I wear tall heels, they have to be ridiculously comfortable. These suede 1990s ladies are really solid, I can wear them for a few hours without so much as a whimper - a big deal for me."
